Winston J. Carter Obituary

Mr. Winston J. Carter, 79, departed this earthly life on Sunday June 20, 2021.

Winston was born September 25, 1941 to the late Isabel and Frederick Carter.  He was their only child. He was born and raised in Long Circular, Maraval, Trinidad and Tobago.  He married his childhood friend, Vera Brown on July 14th, 1968, they had 3 children together and moved from Long Circular to River Estate, Diego Martin.  In 1991, Winston and his family migrated to Brooklyn, New York to begin a new chapter in their lives.

Winston was a gentle, kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He was mechanically gifted and could fix any appliance that he put his hands on.  He was an awesome cook, who enjoyed preparing Sunday meals for his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved preparing his special dish which he called “Italian Delight”, but no one was ever certain what was Italian about it.  Winston enjoyed telling stories of his youthful days while growing up in Long Circular and often sharing words of wisdom that his mother gave to him as a young man.  Winston enjoyed listening to old school Reggae and Calypso music while dancing throughout the house especially when cooking and cleaning.   One of his favorite past times was shopping on Publishing Clearance house and donating to different charities to help others in need.

Winston was a very humble man, who worked to ensure that his family was taken care off. He often said “I ain’t ever make big money, but my children never went without.”  For ten years he worked at Harriman and Sons as an electrician, but once he migrated to New York he worked at RAV Security until his health declined and he was no longer able to work. He took pride in his work as a security officer and enjoyed meeting different people along his journey.

On Sunday, June 20th, 2021, Winston J. Carter took his final breath and went on to glory.  He leaves behind to cherish his memory and legacy, two daughters, Arlene Carter and Terry- Ann Carter-Aaron (Willie Aaron).  One son, Terrence Carter (Christina Podolski). His five grandchildren:  Isaiah and Shea Aaron, Angelina, Maliyah and Kahlia Podolski-Carter.   Extended family, Natasha Patterson, Khalil McGruder, Tia-Marie Belgrave, and Kiymane Aaron.

He was predeceased in death by his wife, Vera Carter and his parents Isabel and Frederick Carter.
