Mr. William Valentine Abisodu Taylor was born on the 29th of December, 1949 in Freetown Sierra Leone, and was called from labor unto reward on June 20, 2023.
Willie as he was commonly known was born to Christiana Decker and Emmanuel Taylor of Freetown, Sierra Leone.
William was a chorister at Zion West African Methodist Church on Wesley Street, where he served at age eight until he migrated to the United States of America.
He attended the Bishop Johnson Memorial School in Freetown, Sierra Leone. On leaving school, he worked at Delco in Pepel.
In the United States , he worked for Southern Heating and Cooling Company and also for BP Gas Company.
William truly loved the Lord and prayer was an integral part of his daily routine. He was a Christian, steadfast in his faith.
William is survived by two children Patrice and William Abayomi Taylor of Raleigh, North Carolina.
He was the first of eight children. Surviving are Jonathan Olu-Taylor (Josephine), Donald Taylor (Hilda), Mabel Cole, Maurice Taylor, and Arthur Taylor.
He is also survived by several cousins, nephews and nieces in Freetown, The United Kingdom, Nigeria, South Africa, Canada and the United States. Other families and friends include The Oluloye, Cole, During, Decker, Taylor of the United States, the United Kingdom and Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Also mourning his death are a host of close friends and several other relatives in the United States, the United Kingdom and Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Funeral service at 11:00 AM Saturday July 1, 2023 at Martin Street Baptist Church, 1001 E. Martin Street, Raleigh, NC preceded by a 10:00 AM visitation. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. Viewing from 2:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday June 30, 2023 at Haywood Funeral Home.
