Shirley La Yonne Staton, 65, of Raleigh, NC departed this earthly life on Tuesday August 22, 2023.  

Viewing and Visitation: Friday September 8, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Smith Temple Baptist Church prior to the Funeral service.

Funeral Service: Friday September 8, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Smith Temple Baptist Church, 322 S. East Street, Raleigh, NC 27601.

Shirl, as we lovingly called her, is preceded in death by her mother (Sarah Colvin Staton); her father (Mark Tilmon Staton); and her brother (Jimmy Staton) all of Raleigh, NC. She leaves to mourn: two sisters (Patricia Staton Villiers, Mansfield, TX and Ellen Staton Jackson, Philadelphia, PA); a niece (Veronica Villiers Alario, Downington, PA); two nephews (Brandon Villiers and Derek Villiers, Mansfield, TX); a great-nephew (Matthew Alario, Downington, PA); a great-niece (Jadyn Villiers, Mansfield, TX); two aunts (Thelma Colvin Gillespie, Fayetteville, NC and Jean Colvin Martin, Angier, NC); and a host of cousins, friends, church members, and co-workers.
