Seco W. Kirby, Sr. Obituary

Seco Willie “Bud” Sr. was from Kenly N.C. He moved to Raleigh in 1965 with dreams of having his own mechanic business. He retired from Central Prison in the early 90s. Prior to that he graduated with a degree in Mechanics and was the Owner/Operator of several mechanic shops and a service station. He spent most of his free time mentoring young men in Apollo Heights and Worthdale.

He loved his grandchildren dearly and individually. Spending time with each one, teaching them his lessons of life. He would often help them acquire, build and maintain their first cars.  He taught them how to catch, gut and clean fish. You could often find him enjoying a fresh catch.  For many years he was affectionately known as “Mr. Bud” to friends and Uncle or Grandpa Bud to family. He was also a father to many who didnʼt have a male role model. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leona Pierce Kirby and Willie Kirby. Both sisters Virginia Lewis and Landora Spells of Kenly, NC. His wife Alice Young-Kirby of Washington, DC and two sons Seco Kirby Jr. and Cedric Kirby.

He leaves behind his wife Cynthia Kirby, his friend Benita Clark, 5 daughterʼs Alice M. Howell, Linda Kirby, Angela Kirby, two extended daughters, Kenya Arredondo and Florina Mazreku. His grandchildren Stacy, Stephanie, Khyar, Yahmina, Kingston, Heaven-Leigh, Canesha, Ashley, Kenly, Erin, Brandon, Chris, Joi, Ceki, Cedric, Quantavis, Isaiah, Kenisha, Clarence, and Dashaun. Great-Grandchildren Savion, Cayden, Serenity, Jordon, Jaʼniya, Zaria, Ajah, and Zanyla. And a host of friends and extended family.
