Rev. Johnnie Hinton, Jr., 85, of Raleigh, NC departed this earthly life on Thursday April 29, 2021.
Rev. Johnnie Hinton, Jr, was born May 27, 1935 in Garner, NC to the late Johnnie and Iola Williams Hinton. He completed his life journey April 29, 2021 at his home in Raleigh, NC. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Angie, two sisters, Beulah Bass (Eddie) and Rosa Marie Hinton, and a brother, Joseph Hinton (Leola).
Rev. Johnnie Hinton, Jr. was educated at and graduated in 1953 from Garner Colored School, Garner, NC.
He was employed by Colonial Grand Union Co. as a forklift operator until he retired.
At an early age, he became a member of Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church where he was called into the Ministry and served as Associate Minister. Later he was appointed Pastor at Green Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Smithfield, NC.
In 1983, Rev. Johnnie Hinton, Jr. met the love-of-his-life, Peggy A. Morgan-Singletary, and they were married in 1984.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Peggy A. Hinton; a daughter, Wendy; step-children, Roosevelt Singletary (Doris) of Chesterfield, PA, Donald Singletary, Annette Deck and Maurice Singletary, all of Raleigh, NC; a brother, David Hinton (Mary); and a host of step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service at 2:00 PM Tuesday May 4, 2021 at the C.A. Haywood, Sr. Memorial Chapel preceded by a 1:30 PM visitation. Interment will follow the service at Montlawn Memorial Park.
