Elder Fred J Morris of Raleigh, NC, departed this earthly life on Monday, October 17, 2022 at Wake Medical Hospital. Elder Morris was born on August 16, 1939 in Edgecombe County, NC and moved to Raleigh, NC to start his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Penny Hunter (Zelb Hunter), his father, Fred Lee Morris (Rosetta Morris), his only son, Gregory J. Morris and 8 siblings. He retired from Wonder Bread Bakery Company and North Carolina State University. He was a dedicated Man of God, who served and loved all that he came in contact with. He was the Pastor of First Trinity F.W.B. Church for 25 years. He loved singing the gospel and spreading the good news that "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14. He never met a stranger and always had kind words to everyone he met.
Elder Morris leaves a legacy of love and beautiful memories to cherish in the hearts of his beloved wife of 61 years, Lenora Pender Morris, 4 daughters: Terry (Stanley) Richardson, Loretta Morris White, Gwendolyn (Nathan) Davis and Monica (Paul) Smith, 11 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great Great Grandchildren, a host of loving sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and friends.
His Viewing will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Haywood Funeral Home, 2415 South Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27603. The family will be present for visitation during the hour from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The Funeral service will be held in the C A Haywood, Sr. Memorial Chapel on Saturday, October 22, 2022, beginning at 11:30 AM.
