Mrs. Patricia Leigh Jackson Clanton, daughter of the late Otis and Alice Brake Jackson, was born on February 7, 1960. After a courageous and uncomplaining 5 year health challenge, she departed this earthly life, with her family by her side, on March 21, 2020.
As a young lady, she met and married the love of her life, James E. Clanton, Jr. They spent the last 36 years in wedded bliss. This union was blessed with three children: Jamesha, Patrick, and Jameson.
“Pat” as she was called by loved ones, gave her life to Christ as a young girl, joining Union Hill Baptist Church in Nashville, NC. Serving our Lord was a significant part of her, working for several years as a church administrator at Christian Faith Baptist Church. But most importantly, she spent a big portion of her adult life as a First Lady, serving by her husband’s side for many years--formerly at First Baptist-New Hill, and currently at Wake Baptist Grove in Garner. She was also a dedicated participant in Bible Study Fellowship.
Pat attended Northern Nash High School in Nash County. She was a 1982 graduate of UNC Chapel Hill. While at UNC, Pat became a member of her beloved Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Theta Pi Chapter.
Pat worked for several years in the banking industry with Research Triangle Credit Union. Later, she was an administrative assistant in the Electrical Engineering department at North Carolina State University before becoming the administrative assistant at Christian Faith Baptist Church. After determining that her family needed her fulltime attention, Pat left her position at the church to give herself fully to the needs of her husband and children.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her cousin Jacqueline Cooper Morehead, who, being raised in the same home, was more like a sister. Her loving parent’s in law, James E. & Marie Clanton, Sr. also preceded her.
