Naomi Dolby Hood Hinton

Ms. Naomi Dolby Hood Hinton, 90, transitioned quietly and peacefully on May 4, 2020, while visiting her only granddaughter (Treva Murray Tucker), grandson-in-law (Kenneth Tucker), and her two great-granddaughters (KeMaya Naomi Tucker and Kennedy Cheyenne Tucker) and great-grandson (Jared Johnson) in Conyers, Georgia.

Her first and only earthly transition was from 1223 Fayetteville Street, Raleigh to her daughter’s home five years ago in Garner, N.C.

She surrendered her life to Christ at an early age. She was an active member of the Fayetteville Street Baptist Church which later became First Cosmopolitan Baptist Church under the pastoral watch of the late Rev. Johnny Jones and Reverend Dr. W. B. Lewis. She then continued her Christian journey by attending her daughter’s church, Springfield Baptist Church Auburn-Knightdale Rd. Raleigh, NC, recently under the shepherd, Reverend Dr. Kevin Sturdivant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. HInton.

She is survived by her daughter Glenda Hood Murray; one sister Ms.Fleeter Dolby Merritt, who she loved dearly, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was a very loving, caring and extremely generous individual. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was always thinking of and giving to others unselfishly without seeking praise or acknowledgement. Naomi will be greatly missed by family, friends, all who knew or came in contact with her.

A private family only viewing will be held on Tuesday May 12, 2020 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the CA Haywood, Sr. Memorial Chapel, 2415 South Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC.  A Graveside Service is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Mount Hope Cemetery, 120 Prospect St., Raleigh, NC.
