Mrs. Minnie B. Scott, 97, of Raleigh, NC departed this earthly life on Saturday September 19, 2020.
Minnie B. Scott was born on December 17, 1922, in Gibson, NC, to Ollie and Carrie Buchanan Easterling. She attended Laurinburg Institute, Laurinburg, NC.
In the early 1940s, she moved to Raleigh. It was here that she met her husband, Roosevelt Scott, Sr. Three children were born to this union: Barbara, Lillian, and Roosevelt, Jr. Minnie joined Manly Street Christian Church, now Macedonia New Life Church. She was a member of the Deacon Spouses Ministry, Pastor Support Ministry, and the Aging Graysfully Ministry.
Minnie loved to cook and became known around Raleigh as the woman who made the best rolls and cookies in town. She would always say to visitors when they prepared to leave her house---“don’t you want to take something with you”---this was not a question, but a command.
Her two great loves were her grandson and granddaughter. Minnie enjoyed visiting with her great-grandchildren and loved receiving visits from her nieces and nephews. She loved to travel, especially to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., national conferences with her daughters. She looked forward to annual Aging Graysfully beach trips.
Her husband, Roosevelt, Sr.; her mother; and six siblings preceded Minnie in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory: three children: Barbara Scott Akinwole (Obataiye), Lillian Scott Lee (Marvin, Sr.), and Roosevelt Scott, Jr. (Tannis); two grandchildren: Marvin, Jr. (Chelsea), Shanté Stringfield (Justin); two great-grandchildren: Jayson and Jemma; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
