Melisandra Patricia Brown Marks passed away peacefully from this earthy life on the morning of November 19 2021 at the age of 71 surrounded with her loving family at her side. Melisandra was born in Wise NC and moved to Raleigh NC as a young Child with her Father and Brother where she lived the remainder of her life.
Melisandra was a Catering Supervisor for Aramark Services at Meredith College for 45 plus years. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. Cooking for her children and grandchildren was the highlight of her life. Her desire was to make sure know one went hungry and in doing so she always made monthly contributions to different organizations to feed the needy.
Melisandra is survived by three children. Courtnie Brown, Annette Marks and Pete Marks. Twelve grandchildren Aaliyah Parker ( Christian Parker) , Chris ONeal, Christopher Singletary, Mercedes Brown, Alexus Aultman, Brianna Aultman, James Jodie Parker, Robbie Parker, Regina Parker, London Brown, James Robinson, Kashton Marks and one great grand son Milo Parker. Melisandra is also survived by her brother Dennis M Brown ( Tanya Brown) one nephew DJ Brown, her ex- Husband Benjamin Marks who cared for her and provided for her in times of need and a host of cousins and friends.
Melisandra was preceded in death by her parents. Father: Robert Henry Brown, Mother: Ida Belle Edwards Brown and her Aunt: Lucy Shaw and Grandson: Issaiah Robert Brown.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Transitional Hospice for all their support and care. We are thankful to all that prayed, spoke words of encouragement and to just simple know they were there for us.
A Public Viewing is scheduled for Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Haywood Funeral Home, 2415 South Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC. Casual Attire please.
A Repass is planned after the Viewing at the following address: Powell Drive Park, 740 Powell Drive, Raleigh, NC., 27603, from 6:30 -8:30 PM.
