Lydia Jean Bobbitt, was born to the late Charlie Whitley (Whit) and Pauline O’Neal Bobbitt on September 17, 1960, at St. Agnes Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. Lydia gained her new wings on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at the ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro, North Carolina.
Lydia was raised in the home of her aunt Cora Belle Taylor, her legal guardian, from the age of two weeks up until she was placed in a special facility due to her special needs. Upon the death of her Aunt, her cousin Linda Ann Taylor (deceased) & Alveria Taylor Williams respectively became her legal guardians. She attended several Wake County schools and was notorious for not getting on the school bus just to have her Auntie leave her job and return home. She was a fighter even being told her life span was up to 2 years old and in August 2016 was given a few days to live. Lydia continued to have that zest for life up until her final days in spite of her limitations.
Lydia leaves to cherish in her memories, stepmother Minister Cora Elizabeth Bobbitt; siblings, Dennis O’Neal (Denise), Shelia Adams, Kendra McAffity (Curtis), Charlie, Jr.; Nephews Dennis, Jr., Corey & Deigo; special cousins raised as her sisters and brothers, Barbara Taylor, Alveria (Bernard) Williams, Theodore (Tic Toc) Taylor, Jr. (Hiruit), Janice Taylor, Theodoric (Ardy)Taylor (Joyce), & Thelma (Larry) Stokes, and a host of other relatives and friends.
