Obituary

Linda Ann Wilson, 71, of Raleigh, NC departed this earthly life on Friday May 12, 2023.  Funeral service at 12:00 noon Friday May 19, 2023 at First Cosmopolitan Baptist Church, 1515 Cross Link Road Raleigh, NC preceded by an 11:00 AM visitation.  Interment follows the service at Carolina Biblical Gardens.  Public viewing from 2:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday May 18, 2023 at Haywood Funeral Home.

Linda Ann Wilson was born February 26, 1952 to Beatrice Wilson in Raleigh, NC. She departed this earthly life May 12, 2023.

Linda completed her high school education at Ligon High School in Raleigh, NC. She furthered her education and received her degree in Business Administration from Strayer College in Washington DC. Linda enjoyed learning and continued her education at the Raleigh School of Data Processing in Raleigh, NC earning a degree in Computer Programming and at the International Learning Tree in Reston, VA earning a certificate in Novell Networking, PC Networking.

Linda worked for the United States Government in the Information Technology department for over a period of 30 years in Alexandria, VA, Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, NC and retired from Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Durham, NC.

Linda was an active member of Order of Eastern Star which included: Past Worthy Matron of Jeptha's Daughter #623, Order of the Eastern Star, PHA; Charter Member and Past Royal Princess Commandress of Orpah Court # 11, Cyrene Crusader and Past Most Ancient Matron of King Solomon # 12, Heroines of Jericho.

Linda loved traveling, spending time with family and friends at family reunions and gatherings.

In Linda’s younger years, she served as Junior Missionary President. She was a long-time member of Providence United Holy Church in Raleigh, NC, and served in many leadership positions within the church. She often attended and supported the Southern District Convocation, Home & Foreign Missionary Department, YPHA, and Interdenominational Women’s Fellowship. In the later part of her life, she joined First Cosmopolitan Baptist Church and participated in the Birthday Club.

Linda was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Beatrice Wilson in 1996; uncles, Jenatus Wilson (Delores Beckwith Wilson), Henry Wilson (Ozzie Mae Chavis Wilson), and James Wilson; aunt, Blonnie Wilson Herndon (Lenn Herndon).

Linda leaves to cherish her memories; her cousins, Jenatus Derrick Wilson II (DaSheik) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Valerie A. Herndon of Raleigh, NC, Willie Earl Wilson of Raleigh, NC, Jacqueline A. Wilson of Angier, NC; special friends, Kay Carter, Angela Williams, Otis and Martha Gadson, longtime friend the late Bill Kimble; and a host of cousins, relatives, colleagues, and friends.
