Joyce D. Cochrane

Joyce D. Cochrane, age 89, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2021 due to heart failure.  She was born in 1931 in South Carolina. She retired after working 25 years as a nursing assistant. She was also a beautician by trade and owned a beauty shop in downtown Raleigh before attending nursing school. She always had a helper spirit and taking care of the sick came naturally to her.

She is survived by her sister Frances Slaughter and family, step-son Michael Cochrane, her daughter and son-in-law Jacqueline and James Cooper, her daughter Antoinette Cochrane, her daughter Denise Cochrane, her daughter Sherry Cochrane, and her daughter and son-in-law Angela and Douglas Palmer. She is also survived by grandchildren Shaun Smith, Jade Palmer, Cory Palmer, and Maya Palmer, great grandchildren Jalin Smith and Noriah Smith, and a whole host of nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by daughter Pamela Blyther and grandson Chester Smith III.

Joyce will always be remembered for being loving, caring, generous, hard-working, and the best cook we have ever known. She had a knack for making holiday meals memorable. Joyce had a great sense of humor and always made people laugh. We are also so grateful to God for giving both of our parents such full long lives. Our father, Frank C. Cochrane, who was thirteen years older than our mom also  lived to be 89. 

A private service will be held by the family.
