Joyce O'Rourke

Joyce D. O’Rourke, life-long devout Christian, child advocate, singer, dancer, chef, restaurateur, wife, mother, grandmother, mentor, and friend died peacefully at age 79 on May 13, 2022 surrounded by family and friends. Left behind to cherish her indelible memory and enduring legacy is her husband Dr. James R. O’Rourke, Jr., her son Reginald D. O’Rourke, II, Esq. (Catherine O’Rourke), daughter Candice Diane O’Rourke, and grandchildren Anabelle and Hans. 

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Haywood Funeral Home, 2415 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC 27603. There will be no public viewing during that time.

Service will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Level Missionary Baptist Church, 316 Hebron Rd., Durham, NC 27704, preceded by a 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm public viewing and visitation.  Interment takes place at the church cemetery.
