Mr. Joseph M. Sansom, 81, departed this earthly existence on Friday April 11, 2025. Funeral Liturgy Saturday May 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM at The Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral, 715 Nazareth Street, Raleigh, NC 27606. Visitation precedes the service at 10:00 AM, All Saints Chapel. Public viewing Friday May 2, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Haywood Funeral Home, 2415 South Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27603. 

 Joseph is survived by his wife, Sarah Smith Sansom, daughter, Karen V. Sansom-Goodman (Jasper Deonta Goodman), all of Raleigh, NC, a grandson, Julian Joseph Sansom Goodman; of (Morehouse College); a brother, James E. Sansom (June O. Sansom) of Chapel Hill, NC, two sisters, Beryl Sansom Gilmore (Al-Tony Gilmore) of  Bethesda, Maryland, and Sarah Genevieve Sansom Stewart (Michael E. Stewart), of  Manhattan, NY, and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

5:30pm Family Visitation period

6:00pm- reading of acknowledgments 

6:15pm  Invocation & Scripture 

6:20pm “The Lord’s Prayer”

6:30pm - Alpha Phi Alpha Memorial Service

6:50pm Closing Prayer
