A lefty, a leftist, a runner, a reader, a puzzler, a sports fan, James Richard Krabill died April 17, 2025 in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was 82 years old. Jim is survived by his sons Robert and Richard; his wife Patricia Hyatt; her children Joanie, Michael, Dale and Varina; his siblings Larry, Daniel and Carolyn; his granddaughters Eleanor and Anna. Jim was born in New York City, the first child of David and Esther. He grew up in Bowling Green, Ohio. Jim graduated from Miami University of Ohio and earned a doctorate of mathematics from Duke University. He served on the faculty of the University of North Carolina, Pembroke for many years before moving to Raleigh. Jim was a long time member of Raleigh Unitarian Universalist Church, which he cherished. Jim was loving, kind and gentle.
