In loving Memory of Herbert Lewis Rowland

Reflection of Life:   Herbert Lewis Rowland was born October 5, 1949, in Raleigh NC, to Maylon D. and Viola H. Rowland.  He was the youngest sibling of seven.  Herbert was called by God’s Angels to Eternal Rest on November 25, 2022.

Herbert loved to draw and spend time with family and friends.  He loved life and he loved to make people laugh.  Herbert was a people person who truly loved his family.

Herbert attended Wake County Public Schools, and later served in the Marine Corps.  Later in life, Herbert worked and retired as a custodian at Athens Drive High School. 

In 1982 he met Annie Jaynes in Raleigh North Carolina.  They married that same year and went on to enjoy forty (40) years of marriage until her departure.  Their love for one another was unconditional.  

Herbert was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Rowland of Raleigh NC: Parents, Maylon D. Rowland and Viola H. Rowland, Raleigh, NC:  two brothers: Willie Evans, of Camden, SC, Sylvester Rowland, of Raleigh, NC:  two sisters; Rosa Lee Bridges, of Raleigh, NC, Virginia Lee Dare (Rowland) Williams, of Raleigh, NC.  

Herbert leaves to cherish his memories: one brother: Maylon B. Rowland of Bridgeport, CT: one sister: Della M. Rowland, of Raleigh, NC: a stepdaughter, Helen Greene, of Louisburg, NC: two stepsons: Alonzo Jaynes of Wake County, NC and Demetrius Hunter, of Warren County NC.  and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family members and friends. 

Funeral service at 1:00 PM Tuesday December 6, 2022 at the C.A. Haywood, Sr. Memorial Chapel preceded by a 12:00 PM visitation.  Public viewing from 2:00 - 6:00 PM Monday December 5, 2022 at Haywood Funeral Home.
