Henri Ann Shaw was born January 5, 1938 to Henry Jackson Jeter and Mary Vann Jeter in Raleigh, NC. She departed this life May 21, 2021.
Henri attended Wake County Public Schools and graduated from Ligon High School in 1956. She furthered her education at Kentrell College in NC and The Community College of Baltimore, MD where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Development.
Henri was employed with The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. She retired after many years of loyal service. She also worked at a Day Care Center. Henri loved working and nurturing the children. She encouraged the children in such a special way that parents were often amazed by her tender spirit.
Henri was a member of St. Matthew AME Church on Bennett Drive. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was a dedicated servant and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Henri loved to write poems and cook. The family’s favorite dessert was her scrumptious, delicious sweet potato pie. She had a sweet, loving and genuine personality that caused people to gravitate to her. Henri was a special woman.
Henri was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie H. Shaw; parents, Henry Jackson Jeter and Mary Vann Jeter; brother, Charlie Jeter, and sister, Clemetine Preston.
Henri leaves to cherish her precious memories her two daughters, Kim Lynette Blanks (Lawrence) and Nana Michelle Shaw both of Raleigh, NC; two sons, Clark Nebaris Shaw (Kamili) of New Orleans, LA and Bennie Craig Shaw of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, Davon Harry Davenport and Domenique Shane’ Shaw both of Baltimore, MD, Demetrius Clark Shaw of Bradenton, FL and Jared Chase Blanks of Raleigh, NC; one great-grandchild, Bryce Cairo Davenport of Baltimore, MD; four sisters, Mary Irene Harris, Patricia Shaw and Matricia Land all of Raleigh, NC and LaVern Quiller of Washington, DC; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A "walk through" public viewing is scheduled for Saturday, May 29, 2021 in the C A Haywood Sr. Memorial Chapel from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Her family will be present only during the 12 PM to 2 PM viewing time.
