Georgia Jeffries Powe

Georgia Jeffries Powe was called to eternal rest on Monday, June 27, 2022 in her home. She was born September 16, 1928 to the late Robert H. Jeffries, Sr. and Dora M. Jeffries. She was united in holy matrimony to the late John Belton Powe, Jr. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, William Jeffries, Robert Jeffries, Lee Jeffries and Edward Jeffries; a son, Larry Powe; a sister, Ellen Cheatham; and dear sweetheart, Cecil Ballentine.

Georgia, also known as Mommie, retired from Wake County Public School System in 1992, where she was lovingly admired. Georgia loved her pets and she loved to plant many beautiful flowers. She was also an avid fisherwoman. Georgia would feed anyone who sat down at her kitchen table; no one could hold a candle to her in the kitchen.

Georgia leaves to cherish her memory: a daughter, Karla Edmundson (Clifton); two sons, Barry Jeffries (Donna) and Phillip Belton Powe (Christine); a brother, Lonnie Jeffries (Jean); a daughter-in-law, Sharlin Powe; sister-in-law Kim Jeffries; special niece, Lu Anne Weaver; fifteen grandchildren; and a host of greatgrandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and loved ones.

Mommie left behind seeds of wisdom, love, and cherished memories.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday July 15, 2022  beginning at 9:30 AM at the C A Haywood, Sr. Memorial Chapel, 2415 South Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC 27603.  Prior to the service there will be a 30 minute visitation starting at 9:00 AM.  On Thursday July 14, 2022, a public viewing is scheduled at the funeral home from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The Interment will follow the service at 11:00 AM Friday at Raleigh National Cemetery, 501 Rock Quarry Road, Raleigh, NC 27610.
