George Robert Hachmeister

George Robert O Hachmeister, 32, of Raleigh, died in his home on January 12, 2026. He will be remembered for his huge heart; his way with words, both wisecracking and sweet; and his generally laid back disposition—until he was eagerly jumping into action to help family and friends.

He was born and raised in Beaufort, NC. He graduated from East Carteret High School, where he played tennis and soccer, and excelled on the debate team. He attended Western Carolina University and North Carolina State University, studying biology. He later earned a certificate in Cybersecurity. He worked in hospitality for over a decade, winning the hearts of many regular customers as well as his coworkers, and had just embarked on a new career in IT.

He loved music, art, travel, and good food. Most of all, he loved his family and friends. And Costco.

He is survived by his mother, Karen Skarda; his father, Bobo Hachmeister; his sisters, Elissa Hachmeister (and partner Seth Congdon) and Mariah Hachmeister (and partner Collin Miller); his niece, Tula; honorary nephews Dominic and Everett; heartbroken aunts, uncles, and cousins; his beloved dogs, Oscar and Vincent; and friends too numerous to name. He was preceded in death by father figure Jerry Taylor.
