Fredrick James Flagg Obituary

Mr. Fredrick James Flagg, 72, of Raleigh, NC departed this earthly life on Sunday November 7, 2021.  His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the C A Haywood, Sr. Memorial Chapel, 2415 South Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC.  The public viewing and visitation is scheduled from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Saturday prior to the service.  All cards, correspondence, or flowers should be sent to Haywood funeral Home.

****The family will be receiving visitors at the home of Mrs. Gail Cromwell, 106 Tiara Court, Garner, NC 27529****

***Please Note:  We are requesting that all in attendance wear a face covering or mask for the viewing, visitation, and service.  Also know that 3 feet of social distancing is expected.  We are limited to accept a total of 100 individuals per the State guidelines for any indoor services due to COVID. .... Thank you for understanding.

REFLECTIONS

On Sunday evening, November 7, 2021, an Angel silently came to guide Mr. Fredrick James Flagg with tenderness and compassion into the loving arms of Jesus.

Fredrick James Flagg was born April 21, 1949 in Raleigh, North Carolina to James Fredrick Flagg and Minnie Gaines Flagg,the oldest reared along with Gail Letha and Shirley Ann Flagg. His Father, James Fredrick, Mother, Minnie Gaines Flagg and Sister Shirley Ann preceded him in death.

Fredrick James Flagg attended Oberlin School and was a 1967 graduate of John W. Ligon Senior High School. He faithfully participated in and supported all his school’s activities. After graduation he moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was gainfully employed at Lankenau Hospital. He later met Carole Patricia Thompson and 2 children were born of this relationship; Antionette Nicole Thompson and Jermaine DuVal Thompson. Upon returning to Raleigh, North Carolina, Fredrick followed the trade of his Father in Brick Masonry and worked for the Flagg Masonry Company. He later retired from CSX Kinder Morgan Materials Service LLC.

Fredrick James Flagg was married to Sandra Ann Parker Flagg for 41 years until her death in 2018.

Fredrick James Flagg loved his family travelling back and forth between Raleigh and Philadelphia every summer and holidays for a time of togetherness. Neighbors and friends were ecstatic   when they knew Nickey and Jay were coming to town.

Fredrick James Flagg was affectionately known as “Bob” “Fred” “Red”  “Flagg” or as you would see on his License Plate “2 Flaggs”.

Fredrick was very meticulous about the way he dressed especially his love for hats and how he maintained his automobiles. He loved his Shoe Boots!

Sharing Fredrick’s Legacy are daughter, Antionette Nicole Thompson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; son, Jermaine DuVal Thompson and wife, Kathy Thompson of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania; sister, Gail Letha Cromwell and husband, Reverend George T. Cromwell, Sr. of Garner, North Carolina; grandchildren, Brand’n Fountain of Dallas, Texas; Jaylin and Jayvon Thompson of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania; and Maitia Branch of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; nephew Rodney Sherman Flagg of Raleigh, North Carolina; great-nephew RaShawn Alston of Tulsa, Oklahoma; great-niece Ashlei Curtis of Raleigh, North Carolina; aunt Blannie Gaines of Randleman, North Carolina; 2 sisters-in-law; 1 brother-in-law; a special friend Ophelia Royster of Raleigh, North Carolina; numerous cousins, other relatives, friends and neighbors.
