Dr. Paul E. Jones

Dr. Paul E. Jones was a caring husband, father, son, grandson, brother, mentor and friend. On October 26, 1976, he was born in Chicago, Illinois, and left this world suddenly on July 17, 2021, at the age of 44.

Dr. Jones graduated from Shaw University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He completed his master’s degree at the University of Phoenix, studying Education/Curriculum and Instruction, then earned his Ed.D. from Walden University.

His life’s work was to educate the youth by preparing them for tomorrow and giving back to his community through service. He was able to do this through his work as an Instructional Program Specialist for Adult Basic Education and an adjunct professor for Wake Technical Community College’s English Department, as well as the President of the Alpha Alpha Gamma Sigma chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc in Spring Lake, NC.

Paul was and is what the brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity call a brother’s brother. From the time of his induction on November 8, 1996, into the Iota chapter on the campus of Shaw University, he held Sigma true to his heart. Some of his proudest moments in Sigma include reactivating the Alpha Alpha Gamma Sigma chapter, being acknowledged as Sigma of the Year, mentoring the young men of the Sigma Beta Club of Alpha Alpha Gamma Sigma chapter, and sharing his gifts and talents on the regional and national level of the organization.

Due to his commitment to education and service, he was held in high regard and impacted the lives of his students, peers, and anyone that was blessed to have met him. This spanned across institutions and organizations such as Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Saint Augustine’s University, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, and NC State University.

Paul was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Alberta Jones, father Paul E. Morgan, Jr., paternal grandfather Paul E. Morgan, Sr., paternal grandmother Louise Morgan and uncle Anthony Jones.

Dr. Jones leaves behind a loving wife, Keisha Jacobs-Jones, daughter Amberly Jones, mother Andrea Jones, brother Nikko Jones, sister Cedra Hatchett, grandfather Aaron Jones, cousin mother Elise Cole-Rogers, uncle Adrian Jones, aunt Anitra Booth, aunt Stacy Beck, uncle Trent Hicks, aunt Sheila Jones-Gray, aunt Carolyn Cox, aunt Anita Morgan-Hubbard and a host of great aunts, great uncles, cousins, special god-siblings, godchildren, fraternity brothers, sorority sisters and a community of friends.

Memorial service at 4:00 PM Saturday July 24, 2021 at the C.A. Haywood, Sr. Memorial Chapel, preceded by a 3:00 PM visitation
