Deaconess Claytee (Williams) Rochelle

Mrs. Claytee Williams Rochelle, the third child of six children, was born on September 26, 1928, in Raleigh, N.C. of Wake County, to the late Clayton Williams, Sr. and Eufaller (Watts) Williams. She departed this earthly life on Saturday September 23, 2021.  Mrs. Claytee Rochelle received her education in Wake County. She furthered her Higher Education by attending Saint Augustine's College, Virginia State, and also was educated in Norfolk, VA.  In addition to both of her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband James Garfield Rochelle, Jr.; sisters Ruth Mae Williams Hobson, Frankie Lee Williams, and Louise Williams Sutton.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories to her sister Mrs. Barbara Ortiz, Raleigh, NC and brother Mr. Clayton William, Jr. (Socollo), of Raleigh, NC; nieces: Helen Stephens (Lionel), Charlette, NC, Valeri Knight (JaQuincy), Raleigh, NC, Agress Duncan (Haywood), Monroe, NC, Denise Bentham, Cypress, TX, and Suzanne Williams, Norfolk, VA; nephews: Austin Sutton (Kim), Monroe, NC, and Jason Ragean (Rochelle), Raleigh, NC, and a host of nephews and nieces.

In March 2021, Deaconess Claytee Rochelle was spotlighted as Mount Pleasant Trailblazer of the month. Deaconess Rochelle shared her personal story on life, love, and living:

"I was born September 26, 1928, in Raleigh to the late Clayton, Sr. and Eufaller (Watts) Williams. I am the third of six children. I was educated in Wake County, attended St. Augustine College, Virginia State, and also educated in Norfolk, VA.  I worked at Westinghouse for 26 years, a job that I thoroughly enjoyed. I have been active in different organizations such as Ladies of Oberlin and AMICAE of Raleigh, NC. I also volunteered as a hostess for Amtrak and with the 369 Veterans. My hobbies are baking, cooking, reading and puzzles. My constant companion, Coco, keeps me plenty busy!  I thank God every day for having had such a beautiful marriage. And for my extended family, whom I love dearly. And for having so many wonderful friends of all ages and backgrounds. God is my strength and I grow in His grace. As is written in First Corinthians 13:13, “So now faith, hope and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. ... The 23rd Psalm is my favorite Psalm."
 

 Her Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday October 4, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 10720 Falls of Neuse Rd., Raleigh, NC.  A public "walk through viewing" will be held on Sunday afternoon at Haywood Funeral Home, 2415 South Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.  The Interment will be at Carolina Biblical Gardens following the service.
