Cyril Roberts

Cyril Doral Roberts was born on September 11, 1962, to the parents of Eugene (deceased) & Patricia Roberts.  Cyril grew up in Mason’s Addition with his mother whom he affectionately called P. Roberts.  His early education began in Nassau Bahamas where he attended Clark Kindergarten School, D.W. Davis Junior High School, & CC Sweeting Senior High School.  Cyril could accomplish anything he put his mind too.  He started his career as a jeweler at a very young age.  It began with his after-school trips to Godets Jewelers to help clean up the shop.  This is where Cyril learned his jewelry trade and found his passion.  Cyril relocated to Miami, Fl at the age of 13 years old where he attended and graduated from Miami Edison Senior High School. After graduating high school, he joined the US Army where he served in Germany for 4 years.  He returned to the Bahamas in 1985 where he constructed his first jewelry workshop in his mother’s house and established Tafari Makonnen Handcraft Jewelry.  His interest included junkanoo, construction, reading and football. Anyone who knew Cyril knew that he was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and junkanoo enthusiast.  Cyril was a gentle giant and a man of his word; you could rest assured that he would be honest with you even if the truth hurt.  During his life and his battle with cancer he gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. While we saw that he struggled with the cancer, those of us who knew him knew that the cancer had trouble with him.  In the end while we will miss him, Cyril was still victorious because cancer can no longer throw any punches at him.  Like the soldier he was on Sunday June 27, 2021 at 12:33PM Cyril did not give up the fight he simply rushed on.  Take your much deserved rest Cyril, life will not be the same without you.  

Cyril is survived by his mother Patricia Roberts, one son Chef Tafari Roberts, three daughters: Chava, Cyril Jr, and Ciera Roberts.   Three sisters Patrice (Rudolph) Rolle, Karen (Frank) Smith, & Carol Roberts.  three brothers: Leo (AKA Squeaky), Phillip & Herbert (AKA Artie) (Naomi) Roberts.  Fifteen nieces: Kim (Shawn) Johnson, Katrina, Hope, Emerald, Tiffany, & Tianna Roberts. Robin, Raven, and Ruth Rolle. Kayshonta, & Sarah Smith, Lynette & Dr. Kaleatha Roberts, Chantell Munroe, Olivia (Alex) Brown, & Daphne Munroe.  Six nephews: Tirelle Roberts, Rudolph Jr, and Romel Rolle. Barry (Shonda) Stuart, Mark Munroe & Frank Jr (Elena) Smith.

Cyril's Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday July 10, 2021 in the C A Haywood, Sr. Memorial Chapel, 2415 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC, 27603.  Prior to the service, a time for viewing is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. 

***Please Note:  We are requesting that all in attendance wear a face covering or mask for the viewing and service.  Please understand that we are limited to accept a maximum of 100 individuals per the State guidelines for any indoor services due to the Covid-19 Pandemic!  His service will be “live streamed” through the Haywood website. … Thank you for understanding.
