Mr. Charles B. Wood, 80, of Raleigh, NC departed this earthly life on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.  A Memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon Monday November 6, 2023 at St. Paul AME Church, 402 W. Edenton Street preceded by an 11:30 AM visitation.

Charles Wood was born on February 14, 1943 to Milton Wood and Thelma Pou Wood.  He was born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Camden, NJ.  He was a graduate of Eastside High School (formerly Woodrow Wilson High School) in NJ, attended Rutgers University, served 4 years in the US Air Force, and graduated from University of Maryland at College Park.

He was a Trustee and an active member of St. Paul AME Church.

He held a number of positions and lived in several states including roles with IBM in Washington DC, Poughkeepsie and Endicott, NY, Franklin Lakes, NJ, and RTP and Cary, NC.  His most recent role which he retired from as a US Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Durham NC.

He enjoyed playing chess, golfing, crossword/jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Thelma Wood, one brother, Wayne Wood and a beloved wife, Beverly Waters Wood.

He leaves the following to cherish his memory, one daughter, Tracee Wood (James Dorcelien); one son, Craig Wood (Johnesta Norvell); one sister, Barbara Wood; one brother-in-law, Frank and three sisters-in-law: Yvonne, Shirley, and Faye; seven grandchildren: Charles (Britany), Robert, Jessica, Lydia, Joi, Jewel and Justice; one great-granddaughter, Maisyn, and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
