Charles Henry King

Charles Henry Elsas King (a.k.a Bubba), was born in Atlanta Georgia,
on the 5th day of December 1936, was the youngest child of Mr Henry Isaac
King Jr. & Ms. Ruby Louise Reid King. His siblings included his sister Jacquelyne
B. Dickerson(William) and Yvonne E. Freeman (1933-2017) as well as his devoted
sister-in-law Rita Culver and brother-in-law Sidney Culver Sr (1938 to 2015). He
was married to the love of his life of 60 years, Rose O King.

Charles attended Dewitt Clinton High School in Bronx New York, Marist College of
Poughkeepsie, and Newark College of Engineering. Charles was also in the United States
Air Force, and served as an Air Craft Control and Early Warning Operator from 1956 to 1963.
Upon honorable discharge from the USAF, Charles worked for General Motors.
He also performed odd jobs while attending college. Shortly after completing
his education, he began his 30 year career with IBM, where he retired.

Charles lived his life to its fullest. When he was not working or taking care of
family, he enjoyed a night out with his wife, sisters, and friends dancing the night
way. Charles also spent countless hours mentoring young men in sports and imparting
historical wisdom and truth. He was a true athlete from high school playing
football to profession boxing while in the Air Force to Karate. Charles was
also known for his revolutionary daily work out regiment on the IBM campus.
Rose and Charles had an epic love story which began in Cape Cod in 1958.
They loved each other so much they married one another twice. They traveled, they
danced, they were the life of any party they attended, they were rarely seen apart.
Any young couple, that met this couple, was inspired by their love for one another.

Charles is survived by his children: Karen F. Kelly (minister Darryl Kelly), Rochelle
M. King, Charles H. King, Jr. and Kathleen R. King, 7 grandchildren (Iris T.
Kelly, Shaina S. Kelly, Krystal S. Kelly, Alizandra J C King, Josiah B. Kelly, Grace A.
Kelly, Doryan Charles King Algarra, Jasmin J. King), and 4 great grandchildren (Isiah
Kelly, Elijah Jordan, Kaleb Kelly, and Savannah Rose). Charles is also survived by a
host of nieces and nephews, some of whom he mentored and imparted his strengths
and passions such as Alfonso Freeman Jr, Kevin Culver, and Sidney Culver Jr (1960
to 2017).

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM Monday December 31, 2018 at the C.A. Haywood, Sr. Memorial Chapel preceded by a 12:30 PM visitation.
