Betsy Jeanette Bryant

Betsy J. Bryant, 82, died peacefully in Raleigh, NC on January 14, 2021 at the age of 82.  She was a native of North Carolina, born in Wake County to Henry Bryant and Josephine A. Bryant. She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Julia A. Bryant White.  She was born on October 18, 1938 in Raleigh, NC.

She graduated from St. Monica Catholic School, John W. Ligon Jr/Sr High School and Fayetteville State University.  Betsy worked for Franklinton and Wake County Schools, and later retired from Wake County Public Schools. She was a charter member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raleigh, NC, member of the African Ancestry Ministry Evangelization Network (AAMEN), Happy Hearts, and Chairperson of the Eucharist Ministers. 

Betsy was the President of the John W. Ligon Class of 1956 and continued as an alumnae serving as the assistant treasurer and treasurer, representative of the Class of 1956 Alumni Association and served as assistant treasurer and treasurer.  Member of the Golden Eagles sponsored by the Davie Street Presbyterian Church, and she volunteered and was an active member to a host of organizations within the Raleigh community.

Betsy is survived by her niece, Jewel W. Williams (Eugene), great niece, Paige A. Williams, and host of family and friends.

Her Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11:00 am, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with limited seating, but will be streamed on YouTube- St. Joseph’s Catholic Church-Raleigh. The burial will be private with the family.
