Mr. Berry Lee Moore was granted his angel wings on his birthday, May 24, 2023 at the age of 83, in Raleigh, North Carolina. His battle with serious medical issues over recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile and courage. Despite pain, Berry Lee stayed strong and amongst family until the end.
He was born in Wake County, city of Garner, North Carolina to Jessie and Louise Moore. Berry Lee was preceded in death by his siblings, one brother; Sherley, two sisters Jessie Barbara, and his twin Elouise. Before retiring, he worked for the City of Raleigh where maintained the grounds and kept the facilities clean.
Berry Lee met his first love, Betty Ann (Avery) Webster in the late 50s and married in the early 60s. Together they had 5 children. He was preceded in death by three of his children, Nora, Brenda, and Beatrice. He leaves behind four children, Bertha, Gary. along with Terry from Carolyn Monroe and Emanuel from Maria Cruz. He remained close with is children and expanded family throughout his life welcoming a total of 13 grandchildren and a host of great grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He especially loved being around family and friends at barbeques, cook-outs and reunions. You would often find him at the card table playing spades, to win of course, laughing and singing along to the music. He enjoyed the classic soul music of Al Green, the Commodores and 70s blues of The Louisiana Blues Brothas, and Major Clark Jr. He lived on Glenwood avenue for more than 40 years where he was a friend to many and a member of the ADD+C Social Club.
Berry Lee Moore will be honored on June 3 2023 at Haywood Funeral Home located at 2415 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27603 . Visiting hours begin at 12noon. Service begins at 1 pm.
