We rejoice in the life and legacy of Barbara Jean Bethea Price, who was called home to be with her
Lord on August 23rd, 2025. Born on September 28, 1932, in Wendell, North Carolina, Barbara was a
faithful servant and a beacon of God’s love to all who knew her. She was a cherished daughter of the
late Preston Bethea, Sr. and Cannie Price Bethea.
A proud graduate of James E. Shepard High School in 1952, Barbara moved to Raleigh, North
Carolina, where she built a career and a beautiful family. Her hands, skilled in crafting delicious
made-from-scratch salads and dressings in the restaurant industry, were also hands of love and
devotion, raising her two sons, Reuben Charles and Connell Stefan, in the warmth of family and faith.
Barbara was a devoted and faithful member of Deliverance Cathedral of Love in Raleigh for over 30
years, where she served the Lord with a joyful heart. Her steadfast faith was a testament to her love
for Christ, and her presence was a blessing to her church family.
Her memory will be cherished by her loving sons, Reuben Price (Ana) and Connell “Stefan” Price
(Kathy), and brother Dr. Preston Bethea, Jr (Maxcine). She leaves behind a legacy of love in her
grandchildren, Keenan Conyers-Price, Jason Conyers-Price, Chakara Conyers, Lacey Booth
(William), and Sydney Price, as well as a host of great-grandchildren, cousins, family, and friends
who were blessed by her presence. She is also survived by her niece, Dr. Jan Bethea, and nephews,
Tony Bethea (Gail), George Fields, and Myron Bethea (Valerie).
We will remember her for her loving spirit, sharp wit, and warm smile, all of which reflected the light of
Jesus within her. Her memory will live on through our family’s Christmas Eve tradition where we
emphasized the birth of Christ and the true meaning of the Christmas season.
Though we mourn her physical absence, we take comfort in the promise of eternal life and the
knowledge that she is now in the arms of her Savior.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
