Arnel Morgan

Arnel Morgan, 94, of Raleigh, NC entered eternal rest November 21, 2022 peacefully in her home.  Arnel was born April 26, 1928 to the late Willie Morgan and Flonnie Morgan McKoy.  She was the second born of eight children from this union.  

Arnel attended Poplar Springs Christian Church where she was baptized at an early age.  Arnel attended Garner Colored High School.  Later she married the late John Thomas Utley (JT) and moved to New Jersey and after a few years they moved to Manhattan, NY.  While in NYC she worked as a seamtress for multiple companies and later worked for Bulova Watch Compay as a watchmaker.

Arnel enjoyed praising the Lord, sewing, wearing hats and bowling.  While in NYC Arnel was a member of the Allen AME Church.  After retiring she relocated to Raleigh, NC and rejoined Poplar Springs Christian Church spiritual growth. She loved Rev. Charles Brooks and Rev. Tracey Bell whose mother Mary was one of her dear friends. Arnel loved her church and was an active member in Sunday School, Senior Ministry, United Voices, the Senior Choir , the Cancer Support Group, and the Annie B. Davis Fellowship Ministry.

She was preceded in death by 3 of her siblings Willie Mae Ham, Frederick Morgan, and Andrew L. Morgan.

She leaves to cherish her her memory her siblings, Pearline Morgan Fowler of Raleigh, NC, Willie Morgan, Jr. (Liz) of Angier, NC, Sarah Utley of Jamaica, Queens and Curtis Morgan (Frankie) of Springfield Gardens, Queens; 1 godsister, Jennie Hartsfield; 2 godsons,  Anthony Lawrence Fowler, and Leslie Andre Utley; 1 goddaughter, Deborah Denise Utley; 2 aunts, Florida Mae McKoy of Raleigh, NC and Alexina McKoy Wiggins of Washington, DC; long time friend of over 80 years, Ella James Wilder Perry; and special friend, Rose Womble; and a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and friends.

Funeral service at 12:00 noon Saturday December 3, 2022 at Poplar Springs Christian Church, 6115 Old Stage Road, Raleigh, NC preceded by an 11:30 AM visitation
