Annie Mae McLaurin was born on May 15, 1930 to the late Vancy Griffis. She departed this earthly life on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
Annie was a graduate of Garner Colored High School.
Annie became a member of Springfield Baptist Church at an early age. She moved to Durham, NC for many years where she did domestic work. Her favorite thing to do was cooking and trying to run the show. She was the last one standing out of her seven siblings. God blessed her to see 91 years of life.
Annie was preceded in death by her mother, Vancy Griffis; son, Tommy Griffi; grandson, Tommy Griffis, Jr.; four sisters, Louise Griffis, Josephine Griffis, Fannie Strickland and Goldie Hinton; three brothers, Johnny Griffis, Quincy Griffis and Algie Griffis all of Raleigh; and two special nieces, Rosa Walker and Fannie Davis.
Annie leaves to cherish her memory her granddaughter, Adrienne Hickman (Reese); one grandson, Chris Hill; two great-grandchildren, Raheid Hill, and Dynasia Gilbert; one great-great-granddaughter, Nova Hill; two special nieces, Barbara Yamagata, and Peggy Strickland, and special nephew, Lamont Griffis all of Raleigh, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Graveside service is scheduled for Monday August 2, 2021, at 12:00 PM at Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery 409 Auburn Knightdale Road, Raleigh.
