Abigail Aina Davies, the daughter of Josie A. & Lucinda R. Davies, was born on January 9, 1954, in Freetown, Sierra Leone. She departed this life on June 29, 2022 at the age of 68.
She is survived by her children: Lisa T. Davies of Greenville, SC and Josil Roy-Macauley of Arlington, VA; grandchildren: Ralph and Donovan Richardson; brothers and their spouses, Alex G. (Modupe) Davies and Eric T. (Dolly) Ben-Davies; nephews: Sylvanus, Josie, Ralph, Desmond, Mark and Eddie; nieces: Josephine, Leticia, Princess, Joanne, Carol, Maureen and Tricia; many relatives including the Bultman, Roberts, Thompson, Taylor, Campbell, Smart and Cole families at home and abroad.
She was preceded by her brothers: Jackson, Emmanuel, Magnus and Olufemi; sister, Morgianna; also by her paternal grandparents, James and Sabina Davies and maternal grandparents, Sylvanus & Sybilla Bultman.
Abigail obtained her elementary education at the Tower Hill Municipal School and completed her secondary education at the Annie Walsh Memorial School, in Freetown, Sierra Leone. She obtained a B.A. degree in Economics (Finance) at City University of New York and an MBA in Finance/Management Information System from East Carolina University, Greenville, NC.
She began her professional career in 1987 in accounting, rising through the ranks to Assistant Director of Finance at the National Development Bank, Ltd., Sierra Leone. She relocated to the USA in 1996 and began her career as a Corporate Accountant at Invensys Ltd (now Schneider Electric), in Raleigh, NC. She retired from the US Department of Defense’s Logistics Agency in Virginia on January 31, 2018.
Abigail Aina Davies was a titan of strength to her family and friends. Her faith in God was unwavering despite incessant pain during her final weeks of life. Her generous spirit, her deep and abiding love for her children and grandchildren will comfort us all until we meet her again.

Funeral Service: Saturday, July 16, 2022, 10:30am, at Christ Episcopal Church, Raleigh, NC, with interment in Historic Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh, NC.
