Louise Hunter Dingle was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on November 21, 1945 to the late Annie Jones Hunter Dunn and John Hunter. She departed this life on her 74th birthday, November 21,2019. When Louise was five years old, her mother married the late Eugene Dunn. From that date forward, he was her father and she became a member of the Dunn family.
Louise attended Raleigh public schools and graduated from John W. Ligon High School in 1964. She later attended St. Augustine's University in Raleigh. After high school and college, Louise moved to New York City where she worked for a time as a toll booth operator on the George Washington Bridge. One of her greatest pleasures at that job was seeing friends from Raleigh when they came across the bridge heading into New York. While in New York, she also worked for the US Postal Service and the New York Telephone Company. Upon returning to Raleigh, Louise was employed with ITT, later Alcatel, for many years. She made many lifelong friends while working there. She especially loved going on the yearly ITT Ladies trips. These trips took her to a number of places including, Washington, DC, Atlanta, GA, Memphis, TN, Orlando, FL and the Bahamas. After retiring, she became a foster grandparent with the Raleigh public school system. She thoroughly enjoyed this work because it gave her a chance to help young children. Louise accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and joined First Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC. She remained an active and faithful church member throughout her life and was a member of the Ward-Ingram Gospel Choir, C. E. Sunday School class, and the Senior Ministry.
Louise can best be remembered as a kind and loving person who never met a stranger. She greeted everyone with a bright smile and was never too busy to say a kind word or a simple hello. She had a great sense of humor and always had a funny story to tell. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Christopher Thomas (Katina); her daughter, Crystal Jeffers; nine grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Dontay Jones, Makayla Thomas, LatiaThomas, Armesha Jeffers, Lalayla Jeffers, Armayah Jeffers, Kiara Slade, and Kevin Foster; two sisters, Millie Rogers (George)and Denise Dunn; two brothers, Eugene Dunn, Jr. and Timothy Dunn(Belinda); an uncle, Clyde Poole; a great granddaughter, Allona Smith, and a host of other relatives and friends.
