John Waymon Bailey, son of the late Ezra and Josephine Bailey, was born August 11, 1945 in Wake Forest, NC. He transitioned peacefully in his home surrounded by the love of family and friends April 21, 2024. John attended Wake County Public schools and after high school started his career as a forklift and tractor-trailer operator for Coca Cola Bottling Company where he worked for30 years. He later worked and retired from C.C. Mangum as a tractor-trailer operator after 15 years of service. John never truly retired but served his community alongside his wife as an elder in House of Prayer Outreach Ministries. He faithfully demonstrated his commitment to others through his unselfish acts kindness. John was lovingly known as Mr. B., Pap, Elder, and Johnny. He had a green thumb and was known as a jack of all trades and master of some. He enjoyed fixing cars, puzzles, reading the bible and playing checkers. He had several talents and especially loved music and playing the guitar. He leaves to cherish his loving wife of over 40 years Deloris Bailey, (4) daughters Mary Evette, Lisa Jeanette, Chandra Lavon, Jennifer Bailey (Jason) and a very special nephewson Garland Thompson III (Jeannine). He lived to enjoy 3 generations having; (7) grandchildren; Kendra, Logan, Kaylnn, Joshua, Chandon, Jaslyn, Jiselle and (3) great-grandchildren Koby, Karson and Dakota and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends including a very special neighbor, Gloria Holloway. John was preceded in death by sister; Beatrice Bailey but leaves in love other siblings; Edith Massenburg, Alice Bailey and Grover Bailey (Lula), a brother-in-law; Larry O’neal (Yvonne). John will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Funeral service at 2:00 PM Saturday April 27, 2024 at the C.A. Haywood, Sr. Memorial Chapel preceded by a 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM viewing and visitation. There is no public viewing on Friday afternoon or evening. Interment will follow the service at Friendship Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Wake Forest, NC.
